Anglican Parish of Umkomaas with Scottburgh

Fellowship

Pastoral Care

A large part of any Parish is the Pastoral Care given by the Priest and Lay Ministers.

Visiting the elderly, taking communion to the retirement villages and also those who are house bound, are some of the important ministries practised in the Parish.

Children and Youth

We are grateful that the number of children in our congregation is growing and most are involved in the Servers' Team as Crucifers and Candle Bearers.

Social Responsibility

We work closely together with the Dept of Social Services who have sourced those in desperate need and unable to receive the R350 monthly grant. Parishioners donate food and goods which are put together into parcels which the social workers then deliver to the needy.

Should you wish to contribute cash to this cause, please place donations in an envelope clearly marked 'Outreach'. Food donations to please be brought to the Sunday Service to be blessed before distribution.

We monitor these donations closely to ensure correcty and fair distribution.

Flowers and Hospitality

Our flower and hospitality teams take great pride in beautifying the churches and organising wonderful and scrumptious teas. They welcome anyone who would like to join the teams, you only have to offer and you will be welcomed with open arms.

Bereavement

A sad and traumatic time in anyone's life and Fr Fidelis is always available to counseling, in need. Funerals and Requiem Masses are conducted with compassion and sensitivity.

The Wall of Remembrance is set in tranquil gardens where benches are placed under shady trees so one may meditate in peace in the company of the faithful departed.

Ministries

Unfortunately, owing to the Covid pandemic, our communion and pastoral services to the elderly who are resident in Retirement homes in Scottburgh have been put on hold, until such time as it is safe to continue.
Father Fidelis, however, visits the elderly to offer comfort if called to do so.
